Our History and Teaching Method
Little Flower Montessori School has been in the D.C. area for over 20 successful years. It has been privatly owned and operated since our doors opened in 1992 by director Eliana Noguchi.
Little Flower Montessori School offers individualized education through the AMI Montessori teaching method. This method developed by physician and teacher Dr. Maria Montessori, consists of supporting each individual student's natural development. Montessori emphasizes independence and freedom within limits so that students can reach their full potential at their own pace and stresses respect for each students individual physical, psychological, and social development.
Our Location and Layout
Little Flower Montessori School is located in the basement of The National Baptist Memorial Church though we do not have any religious affiliation. Our school consists of a large classroom downstairs which is reffered to as the Montessori classroom. This classroom is where Montessori sessions are held and contains all of our Montessori materials and work areas for our students. Adjacent to this classroom is our school library. This area contains a broad selection of books and is used for daily morning meeting and story time. The upstairs classroom is used for free play and arts and crafts. It is also used as our lunch and snack area. Our entrance hallway is located between the two classrooms and our bathrooms are located to the right of our hallway. Our private and gated playground is attached to the 16th street side of the church.
Our Staff
Little Flower Montessori School's staff is here to provide a warm and nurturing environment for your child and to meet all of their physical needs. Our staff is bilingual (all of our teachers speak English and Spanish) and are all CDA certified. All of our staff has CPR and First Aid training. Along with this, Little Flower Montessori School requires yearly background checks and monthly drug tests for all of its employees.
